The Nanneys were a Welsh family from the ancient Celtic Royalty lineage who did indeed bear arms and are registered on the heraldic records. It is a name known among genealogists as one of the oldest traceable family lines in Britain. Around 1100 AD, Cadwgan, son of Bleddyn (ruler of the small Welsh kingdom Powys), founded his own Welsh estate near the town of Dolgellau and called the estate Nannau.
